NetSuite Inc., provider of cloud-based financials / ERP and omnichannel commerce software suites, has announced that Science Applications International Corp. (SAIC), the technology integrator for government and select commercial customers, has deployed NetSuite OpenAir as a single, unified platform to run its critical resource management processes.
With NetSuite OpenAir, SAIC has additional visibility of some 10,000 project-oriented personnel working on roughly 2,500 projects at any given time. The NetSuite OpenAir solution can help SAIC to transform resource management through improved employee utilization and the streamlining of systems that will lower IT costs over time.
“The greatest benefit we expect with NetSuite is the ability to see our entire workforce across thousands of projects with associated skills,” said Rob Gottschall, SAIC Director of Resource Management. “NetSuite’s cloud-based solution allows us to enhance functionality and reduce complexity between multiple systems. NetSuite provides us with a system that can evolve with us.”
NetSuite OpenAir To Help SAIC Run Resources Better
Following the separation from its former parent company, SAIC had to implement a resource management tool that provides managers with the capability for proactive planning to map projects, drive increased utilization and significantly reduce manual work.
Implemented in less than six months in a joint effort between SAIC and NetSuite Professional Services, NetSuite OpenAir offers SAIC a robust, scalable and transparent resource management platform.
In an ongoing evolution, SAIC is working towards sophisticated resource optimization that matches resources to projects based on skills, experience, training and other attributes. Within the platform, role-based permissions govern system access and enable employees to manage and update their skills and résumés. NetSuite OpenAir is integrated with SAIC’s financial, human resources, project management, and contract management systems for streamlined, end-to-end processes in a unified solution.
“NetSuite OpenAir lets us move towards resource optimization, career path development and increased profitability by utilizing the right resources in the right places,” SAIC’s Gottschall said. “We have visibility into our employee’s skills and contracts so that we can marry those two and deploy people in the best way possible to maximize their career growth and maximize the use of resources for the company.”
Benefits that SAIC can realize with NetSuite OpenAir include
Faster demand request and booking processes. With NetSuite OpenAir-based resource management centralization, SAIC has significantly accelerated processes for demand requests and bookings. The central Resource Management Office handles staffing requests from program managers, enabling those managers to focus on project execution and client satisfaction.
Better visibility and ability to provide career development for staff. Using NetSuite OpenAir, SAIC can provide staff with greater clarity into the near- and long-term project pipeline and assignment opportunities, leading to career development opportunities. This improved visibility into resource availability and long term projects can enable the company to reduce involuntary turnover.
Reduced costs. Through the NetSuite OpenAir Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) implementation, SAIC can realize improved cost-effectiveness in the areas of administration and IT management. Additionally, reductions in involuntary and voluntary turnover can generate savings by helping SAIC avoid costly and time-consuming recruitment, onboarding and training.
